The first relates to her interest in the intersection between environment, activism and media, specifically how nature is mediated in the global south. The second relates to her interest in the intersections between business, tech and sustainability and the third relates to her interest in the intersections between media, technology and culture, like new media screens and online social cultures, digital narratives and platforms.

She has a combined experience of over fifteen years, spanning academia, industry and entrepreneurship. Before joining SUAS, she taught at UPES, Dehradun, and prior to that was at the University of Auckland. She also held a research position at the School of Design, University of Ulster, UK, working on an EU- funded collaborative new media project. In tandem she also worked in the media industry, as an executive producer in television and in production houses, finally founding and running her own independent production company Red Earth Media, which produces both commissioned as well as independently produced documentaries. She also runs her own independent media production company Red Earth Media, producing documentary films on environmental and human-interest issues.

Her research contributions span academic publications, funded projects, and documentaries. Her work has been published in leading journals, including South Asian Popular Culture and Wide Screen Journal, reflecting her expertise in cinematic space, hybrid screen worlds, and the socio-cultural dynamics of film industries. She has contributed to international conferences on themes such as cinematic aesthetics, environmental storytelling, and the socio-urban impacts of globalized media. Her recent projects include a seed-funded study on media representations of human-animal conflicts in Uttarakhand, reflecting her commitment to socially and ecologically relevant  scholarship. Additionally, Dr. Mukherjee is the co-editor of two forthcoming Springer publications on environmental resilience and resource strategies, underscoring her active role in interdisciplinary collaboration.

I have a passion for storytelling in all its forms.
