SCHOOL OF RETAIL MANAGEMENT
The Indian retail industry has emerged as one of the most dynamic and fast-paced industries due to the entry of several new players. It accounts for over 10 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and around 8 percent of the employment. India is the world’s fifth-largest global destination in the retail space.
The India Retail Industry is gradually inching its way towards becoming the next boom industry. Organized retail evidently needs a supply of higher-end labour that has better education and skills. The conceptualization of labour is entirely different. The expectation of performance level is also different and much more demanding.
The School of Retail Management will focus on providing skilled human resources and path-breaking solutions to the challenges faced by the sector through applied research. The student will have an opportunity for ‘learning by doing’ through practical training at Retail stores on campus and internship semesters which will expose the students to the real world work environment. The incubation centers and centers of excellence will help to test and explore innovations thereby elevating the entire Retail sector to the next level.
The School of Retail Management will offer a range of Certificate, Diploma and Degree programs in line with the industry requirement. The curriculum has been designed in consultation with the industry to ensure that the students are job ready and employable on completion of the course from the University. Each course within the program is modular and credit based. Learning outcomes and skill competency levels expected from students have been clearly defined.
The Program structure allows multi-entry & multi-exit facility to students. The policy for multi-entry & exit shall be as prescribed by the statutory bodies of the University. Vertical mobility will be provided from certificate to degree programs to provide career progression from one job role to the next. The students will have the option to accumulate and transfer credits to relevant programs of the University over a period of time.
BBA in Retail & E-Commerce Management
The BBA in Retail & E-Commerce has been mapped to the job roles in demand in the Retail sector. During the program tenure of 3 years the program builds a strong foundation of Basics of Business Management, Basics of Business Economics, Basics of Law, Basics of Research Methodology, Basics of Information management, Financial Accounting, Business Mathematics, Statistics, Corporate Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Retail Marketing, Quantitative Methods in Retail, Corporate Management etc. It also builds an understanding of the retail sector as a whole. In the 3rd year, the student can opt for the electives to enhance their domain knowledge. Depending on the stream of specialization appropriate training are planned. In the 5 & 6 semesters, a project needs to be prepared for real-time problems. Overall the course is structured in a way to give a well-rounded knowledge and practical training to the student on which he can build further and become a valuable contributor in the professional world.
Duration: Three Years
Executive MBA is aimed as an exhaustive program designed to enhance leadership in the context of Indian Industry. This program shall enable the incumbents to evaluate business strategies, experiment with upcoming models from international markets, and explore various challenges that are synonymous with the industry.
Executive MBA program shall incorporate a blend of classroom sessions, case studies, simulations, skill based learning, lab exercises and experiential training which will constantly be stirred with industrial expertise. A unique offering in the Central region of the country, Executive MBA program shall be a revolutionary beginning to the organized skill based learning. Being a part of the kitty of the first of its kind Skill Based University, the program shall have a unique amalgam of 70 % practical to 30 % conceptual learning.
Executive MBA will be a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) program. The incumbents will benefit from the multitude of infrastructure benefits that the Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore offers.
The University has set up specialized Retail labs on the campus to enable the students to develop required skills and obtain hands-on experience in the Retail sector. A mock store, visual merchandising lab and a fully functional retail store by the Future group are some of the facilities being set up on the campus.
- Passed 10+2 or equivalent course in any discipline from any recognized Board/Council/University with minimum 50% marks for general (open) category belonging to the State of Madhya Pradesh
- Passed 10+2 or equivalent course in any discipline from any recognized Board/Council/University with minimum 45% marks for students of reserved category (excluding creamy layer) belonging to the State of Madhya Pradesh.
- Qualify in Personal Interview conducted by Symbiosis University Indore.
NRI / International Students:
A candidate who has completed XII (10+2) or equivalent examination from any Foreign Board must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). All foreign qualifications need to be verified by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) by the candidate before seeking provisional admission to any program of Symbiosis University Indore. In order to promote International understanding between Indian and Foreign students, SUAS has reserved 5% seats for NRIs/International students in every division.
