11. Brief Description:

1.     Objective:
The objective of this industrial visit was to provide BBA Vth students with practical exposure to the workings of different banking institutions, ranging from cooperative banks to private and public sector banks, as well as start-ups in the banking sector. The visit aimed to deepen the students’ understanding of the diverse banking operations, services, and technologies used in real-world financial environments, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical insights.

2.     Target Audience:
The visit was specifically organized for BBA Vth students, particularly those specializing in finance, banking, and economics, to help them gain first-hand knowledge of the banking sector and its various facets.

3.     Class Coordinators:

These coordinators were responsible for overseeing the visit, ensuring smooth coordination with the banks, and guiding students throughout the day.

4.     Format:
The visit spanned a full day, with students visiting a range of banking institutions from public sector, private sector and foreign bank, including Narmda Malwa Gramin Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Indore Parspar Sahkari Bank, HDFC Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and a start-up in the financial sector. The format involved briefings and presentations at each bank, followed by a tour of the facilities, allowing students to observe operations and interact with bank personnel.

5.     Agenda:

  • 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Departure from college.
  • 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Visit to Narmda Malwa Gramin Bank – Overview of rural banking and cooperative banking systems.
  • 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Visit to Standard Chartered Bank – Exposure to international banking services and corporate banking operations.
  • 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM: Lunch break.
  • 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Visit to HDFC Bank – Understanding private sector banking operations, customer service, and digital banking innovations.
  • 3:15 PM – 4:15 PM: Visit to Bank of India and Bank of Baroda – Insights into public sector banking and financial inclusion strategies.
  • 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM: Visit to a Financial Start-up – Exploring how fintech is transforming the banking industry.

6.     Activities:

  • Bank Briefings: Each bank’s senior managers or department heads provided an overview of their banking operations, key services, and technological advancements.
  • Facility Tours: Students were given guided tours of various departments, including customer service, loans, deposits, and back-office operations, allowing them to witness day-to-day banking functions.
  • Interactive Sessions: Students had the opportunity to engage in Q&A sessions with banking professionals, deepening their understanding of topics such as lending, financial products, risk management, and digital banking solutions.
  • Group Discussions: After each visit, students participated in group discussions to reflect on their learning and share insights from the day.
12. Student Feedback: – The industrial visit to various banks was an eye-opening experience. We had the opportunity to observe how different banking institutions function, from cooperative banks like Narmda Malwa Gramin Bank to international banks like Standard Chartered. The insights into digital banking, financial products, and rural banking operations were extremely valuable. Visiting a startup also gave us a glimpse of how fintech is reshaping the future of banking. Overall, it was a well-organized visit that significantly enhanced my practical understanding of the banking sector.
13. Recommendations / Suggestions by the SPOC. Encourage banks to showcase more specialized departments, such as treasury, credit risk, and IT, to provide students with a broader understanding of banking operations.
