Celebration of International Yoga Day

As per the directives received from the Raj Bhavan, Bhopal vides their letter No. 872/RAS/UA-3/2018 dated 06th June 2018 and UGC D. O. No. F. 14-13/2015(CCP-II) dated 15th June 2018 on the above subject matter. Yoga day has been celebrated in the Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore campus for the faculty members, staff members and students.

The Yoga Program started at 07.00 am on 21st June 2018 in the Seminar Hall, First Floor Engineering Block in the Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore campus for the faculty members, staff members and students. Around 125 members participated in the program.

The Program was supported by the Art of Living, RTO Centre, near Mhow Naka, Indore. The Art of Living teachers and volunteers, Smt Madhurima Sharma, Smt. Shyama Sharma, Shri Hemant Periyar, Shri Sachin Bhai, Shri Bharath Bhai and Mr Aakash Bhai conducted the yoga session. After the conclusion of the program, the knowledge sharing session was also arranged.

It was revealed that yoga is a blend of physical, mental and spiritual practices done for the well-being of a person. It is an ancient skill based on the consistent development of body, mind and spirit. Continued practice of yoga provides the sense of peace and well-being, and also the feeling of being connected with the surrounding environment.

Daily practice of yoga makes one’s body strong and flexible and boosts immunity. It also improves the functioning of circulatory, respiratory, digestive, blood flow and hormonal structures. Yoga also brings emotional stability and clarity of mind within a person.

A recent study has shown that practising regular yoga and meditation results in higher serotonin levels (the happiness hormone).

There are generally uncountable benefits from yoga such as it improves Flexibility, Increases Blood Flow, Perfects Posture, Improves Bone Health, Builds Muscular Strength, Drains Lymphs and Boosts Immunity, Helps one to Focus, Improves Balance, etc. All the participants were advised to practice yoga on regular basis in their daily life.
The vote of thanks was given by Dr Shatrughna Prasad Yadav and then Light Refreshment was served to the participants after the conclusion of the program.
