Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences conducted an interactive career guidance seminar & workshop on Opportunities & Job Prospects in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance sector. The Seminar attracted many footfalls of students, parents, Industry professionals and Academicians. Two days being a beeline of people flows to the campus from super corridor, airport road.
The workshop is full of Skilling session, how to it? How to do it really being showcased by Insurance Companies like New India Assurance, Axis Bank while showcasing their banking products and services. Similarly, the Mutual Fund players demonstrated their various products to students and parents, how somebody starts SIP from a Rs 500/- per month. And how various objectives and social targets can be fulfilled by Mutual Funds invest in a long term. Job opportunities in Banking, Financial Services like Trading, Broking, Investment Banking, Commodities and Wealth Management being the theme. From Health Insurance, General Insurance, Auto Insurance & Industrial high-value insurance sector benefits discussed by Industry leaders from the sector.
In addition to the academic session, the students also participated in a fun quiz organized by the institute to help the students test the waters. And they also enjoyed themselves at various game zones like chess, carom, customized Jenga and logic safari. School of Retail Management, also participated in this event. Their Retail & E-commerce Skill Development Centre opened during this session to students, whereby the students can learn while doing it in the Retail Lab. From School of Retail Management, all the students participated enthusiastically in these 2 days session. They also showed their interest in Retail Banking and how Retail Students can add more zing to the overall Retail Banking arena in the highly growing banking profession.
The seminar started with a big bang, a welcome note on 7th April delivered by Prof. Mahendra Padhy, Director Retail Management at Symbiosis, Indore expressing his viewpoint from UNSEEN, UNTOLD, UNSOLD TO SEEN, TOLD, SOLD how impactful it is from a global financial market perspective when the students will really see here things happening while doing it. Therefore the students they learn themselves while doing it. Then an introductory session delivered by Honorable Vice-Chancellor – Dr. Kailash Srivastava, who is an IIT Academician, having Sweden Citizenship and who is a globetrotter having global industry exposure in the organization like ABB. Which is a Swedish-Swiss multinational corporation headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland? Dr. Srivastava is focused on Banking Sector Services in India and how it can improve further and provide more job opportunities. Apart from India, on a global scale how BFSI sector is growing while creating the world of job opportunities he had briefed in his session. From a Recession to Demonetization, to Volatile market to crude oil prices and impact of financial products in global challenging market dynamics, he explained how important the BFSI sector in the world of commerce.
The students were introduced to the ground realities and challenges at grass root levels in the industry by Mr. Ajit Menon – Director, Standard Chartered Bank, Global Voice, Processing, Products & Services. Mr. Ajit, stressed upon how technological disruption is happening in banking financial sectors as well from Artificial Intelligence, Big Data & Application of Robotics. This technological advancement, argues the new roles in Banking Financial Sector. The jobs role would be changing, new roles would be coming-up time to time. Therefore the students have to prepare with a lot of skills @ as per the industry need. He also told, the millennial generation before marrying they will check the internet speed of her spouse? Many questions being asked by the students and parents, guest, faculties to Mr Ajit Menon and he answered one by one to all.
Then the session went on to quench the queries of inquisitive students with an open question and answer session by Mr. Priyesh Pulak, from Intellience7, Leading Share Market Analyst. who enlightened the students about risks involved in the sector along with the rewards. Mr. Pulak largely focused on Stock Broking and Equity Broking in a volatile market and How to create wealth in a most difficult market. And how the student can prepare for their dream job in share market? As an Analyst, Portfolio Manager or Wealth Creation Advisor. Also shared the growth rate of the market of 21% per annum.
Further, Mr. Aklank Jain from Karvy Securities gave in-depth knowledge about various investment options present in the industry along with Mr. Mohan Vatnani who specifically talked about the insurance sector. Besides these, a few more experts from the industry guided the students and shared their knowledge about the BFSI industry. Mr Mohan Vatnani, shared his personal experience how he took growing challenges in Insurance markets. Apart from the same, he told to the students current 4% of Insurance penetration in India would provide another 96% of opportunity to create more jobs in this specific sector.
