Dear Students and Parents,

The School of BFSI, Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore, is organizing an educational visit to RBI Bhopal on 17th September 2024 (Tuesday). The visit will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM, and transportation will be arranged from the university campus.

To participate in the visit, students must complete the registration process by following the steps below:

  1. Visit https://www.rbi90quiz.in/.
  2. Go to the Students tab.
  3. Click on Registration.
  4. Select your State from the drop-down menu.
  5. Select your District from the drop-down menu.
  6. Select your College from the drop-down menu.
  7. Enter the details of both team members.
  8. Click Submit.
  9. A verification link will be sent to the email addresses of both team members.
  10. The Primary team member must click the link, submit the OTP provided in the email, and generate a password.
  11. The Secondary team member must click the link and submit their OTP.
  12. Both team members will receive a new email with a Team Code, which will serve as the team’s username. The password will be with the Primary team member.

11. Brief Description:

1.     Objective: The visit’s primary goal was to give BBA and MBA students first-hand experience with the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) core operations and improve their comprehension of how the RBI operates as the foundation of the country’s financial system. The purpose of the tour was to close the knowledge gap on central banking operations, policies, and technology improvements between theory and practice.

2.     Target Audience: Students taking courses in banking, finance, and economics who are BBA and MBA candidates were the intended audience for the visit. The RBI’s vital duties in the economy and its interactions with different stakeholders became.

3.     Class Coordinator:
Dr. Ajit Sigh Tomar was responsible for organizing the visit, coordinating with RBI Bhopal officials, and ensuring students were well-prepared to engage with the different departments.

4.     Format:
The visit involved an on-site interactive session at RBI Bhopal, where students were addressed by the General Manager and department heads. The session included presentations and live demonstrations, providing students with an in-depth look at the functioning of various departments within RBI.

5.     Agenda:

  1. Welcome Address:
    • General Manager of RBI Bhopal welcomed the students and provided an overview of RBI’s role in India’s banking system.
  2. Departmental Presentations:
    • Six departmental heads gave detailed presentations about the workings of their respective departments:
      • Foreign Exchange Department: Overview of foreign exchange management, regulations, and its impact on international trade.
      • Financial Inclusion and Development Department (FIDD): Explaining RBI’s role as a lender of last resort and initiatives for financial inclusion.
      • Supervision Department: Highlighting RBI’s role in supervising and regulating banks to ensure the stability of the financial system.
      • Integrated Ombudsman Supervision: Presentation on the handling of grievances and customer protection.
      • Issue Department: Discussing the issuance of currency notes and their circulation process.
      • Other Departments: A look into RBI’s role as the banker to banks and the government.
  3. Technology Overview:
    • The session concluded with an introduction to upcoming technologies like Audio-based payment systems, UPI Lite, and e-Rupi, showcasing the innovation RBI is driving in digital payments.

6.     Activities:

  • Interactive Q&A Sessions: Students actively engaged with RBI officials, asking questions about operations and the evolving financial landscape.
  • Demonstrations: Students were shown practical demonstrations of how the foreign exchange and issue departments function, providing hands-on exposure to central banking operations.
12. Student Feedback: – The visit to RBI Bhopal was an incredibly insightful experience. It gave us a unique opportunity to understand how the central bank operates and the key roles of various departments like foreign exchange, financial inclusion, and supervision. The presentations by the General Manager and department heads were very informative, especially learning about upcoming technologies like UPI Lite and the e-Rupi system. Overall, the visit helped bridge the gap between theory and practice, enhancing my knowledge of India’s banking system.
