IQ Essential to get Job but EQ must to remain in Job
A workshop was organised on “Visionary Leadership and Relevance of Emotional Intelligence” for academicians at Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences. Four-hour session was taken by an eminent scholar Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Vice-chancellor of the varsity. Large no of directors/ principals of different colleges and schools attended the workshop.
Dr. Kumar brought out four major aspects of leadership viz. Intellectual Stimulation, Idealized Influence, Inspirational Motivation, and Individualized Consideration. He deliberated on all four Is and explained the philosophy and methodology of stimulating the intellects into followers. He illustrated seven types of intelligence which are required for all round personality development. One of the major types of intelligence i.e. EQ (Emotional intelligence) was discussed threadbare with practical examples it was explicitly deliberated how one can grow and sustain in the organization with high EQ. Dr. Kumar made remarks that IQ is essential to get into a job at entry level but to sustain and grow in the organization Emotional Intelligence Quotient has to be very high to deal with all type of situations in an organization.
