Librarian’s Day and Library Orientation Program
On August 12th, 2024, the Central Library at Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences hosted a distinguished library orientation program in celebration of National Librarians Day. The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing the enlightenment and knowledge nurtured by libraries. Dr. Jaymala Patil honored Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, the pioneer of library science, and presented an overview of the library’s best practices, policies, and support services to the incoming students.
Campus Director Dr. Durgesh Mishra and Registrar Brig Samanta delivered insightful addresses emphasizing the importance of cultivating reading habits and their myriad benefits. The program featured a key presentation by Mr. Lakhpat Singh Naruka, Training Manager at EBSCO. Mr. Naruka provided an in-depth look at leveraging EBSCO’s resources for academic research and library management, highlighting the utility of the EBSCO mobile app for quick access to e-books and sharing advanced search techniques and tools.
The orientation successfully blended tradition with contemporary knowledge, setting an inspiring tone for the academic year.
