One day Seminar on AR and VR
On 9th August 2022, the School of CSIT organized a one-day seminar/workshop under the umbrella of IEI student chapter, unlocking a huge sack of opportunities for the students as well as faculties.
The Institution of Engineers (IEI) is the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers in India and the IEI Student Chapter provides students with a vast community to learn and grow together not only with their colleagues but also with other aspiring engineers. The students of CSIT were fortunate enough to also become a part of this one-day seminar which will serve as a golden opportunity in their career paths.
The proceedings of the event started by worshipping and enlightening the lamp of Maa Saraswati and a welcome speech by Dr. Prithvi Yadav, Vice Chancellor, SUAS Indore. This was followed by the felicitation of the honorable guests, Er. R.P. Gautam (Chairman ILC), Dr. Shilpa Tripathi (Chairman HDB, IE), Dr. S.K. Somani Vice Chancellor, Oriental University, Mr. Ambrish Polekar, and Mr. Vishal Sharma from Industry.
This was followed by the address of the guests. Er..R.P. Gautam started off the session by greeting everyone on the occasion and he also explained how IEI brings the brightest of minds together in the form of a community and how the students will be benefited from the IEI student chapter at SUAS.
Following the inaugural session, Dr. Dipti Patil, Director of SCSIT, took the introductory session of AR/VR. It was followed by the hands-on session by Mr Amrish Polekar, on Unity 3D and Unreal Engine which are two of the most popular game engines in the world. They both offer amazing 3D animation capabilities, which is why many developers choose to use them for their games. Unity is known for its ease of use and wide range of features, while Unreal Engine is known for its powerful rendering capabilities and ability to create high-quality graphics. However, both engines have their pros and cons, so it ultimately comes down to what the developer needs and wants from their engine. It is very useful for the students. After the hands-on session, Mr. Vishal Sharma also explained the basic understanding of AR/VR and its applications through programming.
He explained how Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are two of the most talked about technologies today. They have the potential to change how we live and work. But what are they, and how do they work.
The program was successfully organized by Dr. Neha Gupta coordinator and IEI member. The vote of thanks was given by Mr. Manish Khule, coordinator and IEI member, thanking the honorable guests for taking out time from their busy schedules and empowering the students with their words of wisdom.
