SCHOOL OF RETAIL MANAGEMENT
The Indian retail industry has emerged as one of the most dynamic and fast-paced industries due to the entry of several new players. It accounts for over 10 per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and around 8 per cent of employment. India is the world’s fifth largest global destination in retail space.
The India Retail Industry is gradually inching its way towards becoming the next boom industry. Organised retail evidently needs a supply of higher-end labour that has better education and skills. The conceptualisation of labour is entirely different. The expectation of performance level is also different and even more demanding.
The School of Retail Management focuses on providing skilled human resources and path-breaking solutions to the challenges faced by the sector through applied research. Students get an opportunity for ‘learning by doing’ through practical training at retail stores on campus and during internships that expose students to the real world work environment. Incubation centres and centres of excellence help to test and explore innovations thereby elevating the retail sector to next level.
The School of Retail Management offers a range of Certificate, Diploma and Degree programmes in tune with industry requirement. The curriculum is designed in consultation with the industry to ensure that students are job ready and employable on completion of the course. Each course within the programme is modular and credit-based while learning outcomes and skill competency levels expected from students are clearly defined.
Programme structure allows multi-entry and multi-exit facility to students. The policy for multi-entry and multi-exit is as prescribed by the University’s statutory bodies. Vertical mobility from certificate to degree programmes provides career progression from one job role to the next. Students have the option to accumulate and transfer credits to relevant programmes of the University over a period of time.

Master of Business Administration (MBA):
- Passed bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration.
- Minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade for general category candidates in the qualifying examination.
- Minimum 45% marks or equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to the State of Madhya Pradesh in a reserved category (excluding creamy layer) in the qualifying examination
- Valid Scorecard of entrance exam of State/National Level such as SNAP/CAT/MAT/CMAT /XAT/MAH-CET etc.
- For those Candidates who do not have any entrance examination scorecard, the University will be conducting its own entrance examination at the university campus.
- Candidates are required to qualify in GD/Presentation & Personal Interview conducted by the University.
Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA):
- Passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in any discipline from any recognized Board/Council/University.
- Minimum 50% marks for general category candidates belonging to the State of Madhya Pradesh.
- Minimum 45% marks for the reserved category candidates (excluding creamy layer) belonging to the State of Madhya Pradesh.
- Qualify in personal interview conducted by the University.
NRI / International Students:
A candidate who has completed XII (10+2) or equivalent examination from any Foreign Board must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). All foreign qualifications need to be verified by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) by the candidate before seeking provisional admission to any programme of Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences. In order to promote International understanding between Indian and Foreign students, Symbiosis has reserved 5% seats for NRIs/International students in every division.
