Symbiosis celebrates Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2019

A grand celebration on Poshan Maah-2019 was organised at the Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore on 1 October 2019 . In his inaugural address, Vice Chancellor Dr Sanjay Kumar recited some lines from the poem of Sohanlal Dwivedi to pay tribute to an illustrious son of the soil – Mahatma Gandhi – on his 150th birth anniversary. He said, “चल पड़े जिधर दो डगमग में, चल पड़े कोटि पग उसी ओर; गड़ गई जिधर भी एक दृष्टि, गड़ गए कोटि द्रग उसी ओर।” He also explained the two invincible weapons of Bapu – Truth and Non-Violence.

The Prime Minister’s Overreaching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment – POSHAN Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with the vision to address malnutrition with a targeted approach by 2022. The theme this year is Complementary Feeding. It aims to accelerate various activities under Poshan Abhiyaan and to create a peoples’ movement in the process.

The components of the Poshan Maah is divided into five – First 1,000 Days of the Child, Anaemia Mukt Bharat, Diarrhoea Prevention, WASH (short for wash, sanitation and hygiene) and Paushtik Aahaar (wholesome meal with diet diversity).

Dr Uttam Patidar, a qualified medical practitioner at CHL Hospital, Indore, was the guest speaker. In his address, he urged the people to develop the habit of liquid intake at regular intervals to keep the body hydrated. One must drink atleast 8 glasses of water a day for far-reaching advantages, he said, adding that one should frequently wash hands to keep pathogens at bay. Often reaching out for mobile phones also increases the risk of pathogen contamination.

Dr Abhijeet Chauhn (IDSC), Mr Vivek Saxena (IT) and Prof Vilas Nair (RM) were the event coordinators. Jitesh Rajpal & Diksha Tomar were student anchors while Harsh Dangi (all three of CSIT, V-B) did an excellent job behind the camera.
