Competence & talent are honed under pressure, says senior cop Symbiosis University’s 3^rd Annual Fest a roaring success

“Sports are important for personality development. It is only under pressure that competence and talent are honed. So leave no opportunity to sharpen your skills and keep on learning from your mistakes. Studies are equally important, and I commend you for having made it to Symbiosis University,” said Mr Purushottam Sharma, IPS, who is Special Director General, MP Police. He was the chief guest at the 3^rd Annual Cultural Fest of the Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences at Labh Mandapam, Abhay Prashal, here today.

Welcoming the chief guest, Symbiosis University Vice Chancellor Dr Sanjay Kumar said, “We will ingrain all-round excellence in you by imparting high-quality education, ethics & culture and sportsmanship. He commended the students for their whole-hearted participation in the sports fest on SUAS campus and the cultural function here on Friday.

The function began with Ganesh Vandana and the lighting of the traditional lamp. On the occasion, the chief guest, vice chancellor among other dignitaries released the much-awaited inaugural issue of Symbiosis University’s Quarterly Newsletter – Symbicle. Chief Editor Prof Vilas Nair and two student editors Bhavya Bafna & Akshita Gour were present on the occasion.

The cultural function marks the culmination of a four-day celebration the purpose of which was to bring together the entire SUAS community – faculty, staff & their families and students – to showcase their resourcefulness and genius.

Cultural sensitivity is important in today’s competitive world and Symbiosis University’s management strives to ensure the same on campus. To be able to celebrate our differences and similarities can help us unite and learn from each other. Numerous cultural activities – ranging from singing, dancing, skits, fashion show and nukkad natak – got good response from the audience.

The chief guest gave away prizes to the winners of various sports events conducted between 12 and 14 March on SUAS campus. It had been inaugurated by Dean-Academics Dr Anil Bisen on 12 March. He had also administered the pledge of sportsmanship to the participants. The function got off to a colourful start amidst the cheering of students and faculty alike.

The first event on Day 1 was a 100-metre sprint of faculty members. This was followed by the 100-metre race of students. Thereafter, all events were conducted on hostel grounds.

The highlight of Day 2 was a flash mob presented by a motley mix of students. The energy and enthusiasm of the participants was so contagious that even the seniors joined in. It was high on entertainment and artistic expression.

The food festival was yet another high point of the celebrations. The idea behind it was to share joy, happiness and to revel in the spirit of celebrations. Mouth-watering culinary delights like exotic bhel-chaat, fusion fruit salad, dabeli debacle, blue lagoon iced tea, apple with spiced cream etc had people complimenting the students for the perfect blends and subtle flavours.

The final matches in all sports disciplines were held on Day 3. A complimentary lunch for faculty, staff and students had also been organised to celebrate three successful days of competition, enterprise and camaraderie. The sports day culminated with a DJ on Symbiosis University grounds.
