Theory Session and Workshop on Internet of Things by Scientech Technologies

Introduction

This report provides a comprehensive account of the theory session on the basics of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the subsequent hands-on workshop held at the IoT Laboratory, SUAS Indore. The workshop was facilitated by two eminent experts from Scientech Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Harshit Kumavat and Mr. Mahendra Raghuwanshi.

Objectives

The aim of this workshop was to enlighten attendees on the fast-expanding field of IoT and to offer hands-on experience with IoT builder platforms and microprocessors with GPS integration.

Session Breakdown

Theory Session: Basics of Internet of Things

  • Introduction to IoT: Definition, significance, and potential impact on modern technology.
  • Understanding the IoT ecosystem: Sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, connectivity, and cloud platforms.
  • Discussion on real-world applications, security considerations, and the future scope of IoT.

Workshop: Practical Exercise with IoT

  1. IoT Builder:
  • Interactive demonstration on the use of an IoT builder platform to create a connected device prototype.
  • Participants learned to interface sensors and actuators with IoT builder software, enabling them to visualize and manage the data through user-friendly dashboards.
  1. Microprocessor with GPS:
  • Overview of GPS technology and its integration with microprocessors.
  • Hands-on session on programming microprocessors to communicate with GPS modules for tracking applications.
  • Exploration of use-cases such as location-based services, asset tracking, and navigation.

Hands-On Experience

  • The active section was particularly engaging, with the participants involved in setting up and coding their IoT solutions, guided by the expertise of the guest speakers.
